Silom, Lumphini and Siam: 13 Places to Ride To
The business spine, from Silom up through Lumphini and Ratchadamri to Siam Square. On a map it reads as towers and malls, and what is worth stopping for is the roasters and dessert counters tucked in behind them, plus the one observation deck that turns the whole grid into a view. Parking is the hard part here, so every pin is one a rider has parked at.
Every pin here is on the city map too. Open Silom, Lumphini and Siam on the full Bangkok map, or drag the map above and the address bar keeps your view.
The rooftop garden is one of the interesting things about the new complex: a surprisingly large elevated green space with Lumpini Park directly in front of you.
This is another “why did I never know this place existed?” café. It sits away from Bangkok's obvious café neighborhoods and focuses on specialty coffee and creative drinks.
A very different kind of urban café - minimalist, artistic and quiet, with an art-gallery feeling rather than a conventional coffee-shop interior.
Tiny owner-operated coffee den with vinyl records, music, unusual beans and a very personal atmosphere. The shop has only around 10 seats, which is part of the charm.
Mahanakhon SkyWalk is at 314 m, on floors 74 and 78, with an outdoor rooftop - currently Bangkok's highest observation point, specifically designed for sunset views.

The renovated 1.6 km elevated path linking Lumphini and Benjakitti. Go near sunset, walk slowly, and look down at the old neighbourhoods beneath - Bangkok's strange mixture of infrastructure, parks and skyscrapers.
An unexpectedly quiet, leafy dining spot in one of Bangkok's most urban areas - skyscrapers outside, garden atmosphere inside.
Old-school Chinese-Bangkok food where the working city, old shophouses and river trade history are still visible.
